AMMAN — The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has only received one contestation over the results of the parliamentary elections held on September 20, an IEC official said on Thursday.
Hamad Abu Zeid, a candidate in Amman’s 4th District is contesting the results in his constituency, said the IEC Spokesperson Jihad Momani. “We only look into contests that we receive through the Court of Appeals,” Momani told The Jordan Times.
He added that contests are not subject to appeal, regardless of the result.
Meanwhile, Hind Fayez, who ran for election in the Central Badia, will submit a contest through a legal committee against the results in her district.
However, the IEC has not yet received the contest and will only deal with contests received through court, according to Momani.
Ballots were reportedly sabotaged in the Central Badia on election day, but the IEC decided against a re-vote in the district.
