Boy, 12, dies while driving bus in Maan — CDD

AMMAN — At least four people died in road accidents across Jordan over the weekend, including a 12-year-old boy who was driving a minibus, the Civil Defence Department (CDD) said on Saturday. 

The boy died when the minibus he was driving overturned in Maan Governorate, some 220km south of Amman, on Friday, an official from the CDD media department told The Jordan Times, adding that the boy’s brother was injured and taken to hospital. 

Also on Friday, two teenagers, a boy and a girl, were killed and four people were injured in a two-car collision on the Airport Road, the Public Security Department said. 

One of the victims was identified as Shadi Abu Jaber, a 17-year-old guitarist who had taken part in a local talent show. 

Meanwhile, one person died on Friday after being hit by a car in Zarqa Governorate, some 22km east of Amman, the CDD official said.  

“In addition, five people were injured in a road accident in Amman and another five in a collision that took place in Balqa on Friday. Saturday witnessed the injury of seven in Zarqa and six in West Amman,” the official added.

 

The injured were taken to hospitals, where they were listed in fair or stable condition, he said.
