AMMAN — A Royal Decree was issued on Thursday appointing former prime minister Abdullah Ensour as a senator, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Ensour served the longest as prime minister under His Majesty King Abdullah — for over three and a half years.

The Royal Decree also approved the resignations of Jawad Anani, who became deputy prime minister for economic affairs and minister of industry, trade and supply, Adel Tweisi, who became minister of culture, and Musa Maaytah, who became minister of political and parliamentary affairs and minister of state, from the Senate.

The decree also approved the resignation of Wajih Owais, who became minister of higher education and scientific research, and Yaseen Khayyat, who became minister of environment, from the Senate, Petra reported.
