AMMAN — Pleasant spring weather is forecast to prevail during the weekend as the country remains under the impact of a wet and fair air mass, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on Thursday.

The fair air mass, brought by northwesterly winds, started affecting the country on Wednesday, a JMD meteorologist said, highlighting that it has caused temperatures to drop back to around their annual average of 25ºC for this time of the year after reaching a high of 32ºC when a relatively hot air mass and a khamsini depression affected the country.

"Temperatures on Friday and Saturday will be below the annual average for this time of the year, as the fair air mass continues affecting the Kingdom. At nighttime, the weather will be relatively cold," the weather forecaster said.

A drop in temperatures is forecast for Friday, when the weather during the day will be fair across the Kingdom and moderate in Aqaba, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, according to the department.

"There will be a slight chance for morning showers in the northern region and temperatures will range between a maximum of 21ºC and a minimum of 11ºC in Amman. Winds will be westerly moderate to brisk, raising dust in the badia," the meteorologist said.

A rise in temperatures is forecast for Saturday, according to the weather forecaster, who said that temperatures will remain below the annual average.

Fair weather is expected across the Kingdom, while it will be moderate in the Dead Sea, Aqaba and the Jordan Valley, according to the JMD, with temperatures reaching 23ºC during the day and dropping to 11ºC at night in the capital, while winds will be westerly to northwesterly moderate to brisk.

Temperatures on Sunday are expected to rise back around the annual average, the forecaster said, and the weather will be moderate.

Daytime temperatures will be 25ºC, dropping to 14ºC at night in the capital, according to the JMD, as winds will be northwesterly moderate.
