AMMAN — Brig. Gen. Amer Jaafreh, the director of the Highway Patrol Administration, and Central Traffic Department Director Col. Yaser Harahsheh on Wednesday said the “intensive” security campaign the two bodies launched late last month to detect traffic violations has been successful in reducing traffic accidents and protecting citizens’ properties.
Jaafreh said the campaign is not aimed at collecting money, but protecting lives, commending motorists’ cooperation and their compliance with traffic rules.
He added that the campaign will continue and there will be no leniency with violators, noting that more than 80 per cent of citizens are supporting the traffic campaign, especially in summer, which witness congestion on the roads with the return of expatriates and the arrival of tourists, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
