'40% of deaths in Jordan caused by heart diseases'

AMMAN — Around 40 per cent of deaths in the Kingdom are caused by heart diseases, members of the Jordan Cardiac Society (JCS) said Saturday.
In a press conference to announce the 18th JCS conference, to be held on Wednesday and Thursday, they said 90 per cent of arteriosclerosis causes can be avoided through proper health and nutritional practices.
JCS President Saad Jaber said the conference will focus on the latest medical advancements in cardiology and arteriosclerosis through 70 lectures, 50 of which will be delivered by Jordanian doctors.
Doctors and specialists from the US, the UK, Italy, Germany, Greece, Turkey, China, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Lebanon are scheduled to participate.
