AMMAN — The State Security Court (SSC) on Tuesday listened to a defence witness in the trial of deputy overall leader of the Muslim Brotherhood Zaki Bani Rsheid.
Authorities arrested Bani Rsheid in late November in response to a critical statement posted on Facebook accusing the United Arab Emirates of promoting “Zionist” foreign policies and indirectly sponsoring “extremism” in the region.
The witness, who is the head of the Brotherhood’s media department, noted that the article in question was not published on the movement’s official website.
The defence rested its case and requested time to present its written plea.
The SSC adjourned the session to February 8.
