5,500 doctors, nurses appointed to avert sector ‘collapse’ — Hiasat

AMMAN — The Health Ministry has employed around 5,500 doctors and nurses in the past few years to prevent the “collapse” of the health sector with the influx of over 1 million refugees from countries where epidemics are rampant, Health Minister Ali Hiasat said Sunday.

Attending a meeting of the Lower House’s Financial Committee to discuss the draft budget law and the draft independent public units law, Hiasat said the ministry secured jobs for all specialised doctors registered with the Civil Service Bureau and ended unemployment in the nursing sector.
