AMMAN — Police recently seized several types of weapons and ammunition in the northern governorates of Irbid and Jerash, according to a Public Security Department (PSD) media centre statement sent to The Jordan Times on Monday.
During the raid of a house in west Irbid, 80km north of Amman, police found six pump-action rifles and pistols with their ammunition, the PSD statement said.
Three other weapons were seized from the home of an Irbid resident, who also had narcotics in his possession, which he was using himself, according to the PSD.
In another raid on a farm in Jerash, police found five different kinds of weapons, as well as several fake official stamping kits.
The three suspects were detained and are being questioned before being referred to court, the PSD media centre added.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) recently apprehended three people, including an Arab national, who were trading in hashish, according to the PSD.
The department’s investigations revealed that two men from a southern governorate were planning to go to a northern governorate to buy drugs.
AND personnel tracked them down and arrested the men, who were found in possession of 122 kilogrammes of hashish, on their return journey, the statement said.
They also managed to arrest the Arab national, who had sold the drugs to the two men, and the case was referred to the State Security Court prosecutor general, the PSD media centre added.
