AMMAN — The Senate’s legal affairs, labour and social development committees on Tuesday discussed the draft juveniles law.
The bill includes articles mitigating the burdens on juvenile courts and centres through establishing settlement committees and finding alternative punitive measures.
The law aims to apply restorative justice instead of penal measures when dealing with cases involving juveniles.
Senate President Abdur-Ra’uf S. Rawabdeh chaired the meeting, which was attended by Social Development Minister Reem Abu Hassan.
