Company to cancel entry fees to The Boulevard in Abdali

AMMAN — The Lower House Tourism Committee on Wednesday reached an agreement with the Abdali Boulevard Company to cancel the JD5 entry fee imposed on visitors of The Boulevard.

Head of the committee, MP Amjad Maslmani (Amman, 3rd District) said the fee will no longer be collected as of Thursday. 

The company agreed to this step during a meeting with the committee, attended by Tourism Ministry Secretary General Issa Gamoh.

The JD300-million Boulevard is part of the $5 billion Abdali project, the largest mixed-use urban development scheme in Amman.

Inaugurated last month, The Boulevard spans over 384,000 square metres, with a built-up area of 1,800,000 square metres that comprises residential, commercial, hospitality, retail outlets, entertainment facilities and serviced apartments.

The site hosts several social and shopping activities, with hundreds of families visiting it for leisure and entertainment, especially during Ramadan.

The Abdali project faced several obstacles leading to the suspension of construction for years, but last year, the government encouraged investors to complete it, injecting JD15 million into the construction process.

The decision came after MPs’ mediation through the House-based initiative “Mubadara”, which encouraged the government to take measures to ensure the project’s completion as a means to help the country attract more foreign investments.
