PM calls for monitoring markets ahead of, during Ramadan

AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Thursday called for intensifying the monitoring of markets and shops ahead of and during the fasting month of Ramadan.
During a visit to the Civil Service Consumer Corporation (CSCC) outlet in Ain Ghazal in Amman to check on the availability of foodstuff, Ensour said inspection campaigns are aimed at ensuring that food items are available at affordable prices throughout Ramadan.
The premier, accompanied by Industry, Trade and Supply Minister Hatem Halawani and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani, was briefed on CSCC preparations for providing basic food items at affordable prices during the fasting month.
Halawani said the ministry had negotiated with Egypt to buy 20 tonnes of rice.
