Palestinian cause remains Jordan's priority — PM

AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said on Saturday that the Kingdom's independence was a big boost to the "brotherly Palestinians", showing them that they have a nation championing their cause and defending their legitimate rights. 

Joining residents of Palestinian refugee camps in their celebration of Jordan's Independence Day and Army Day, Ensour reiterated that the Palestinian cause has long been Jordan's first and foremost priority since the Kingdom's establishment. 

Jordan, he stressed, will continue to help safeguard Islamic and Christian sites in the Palestinian territories and protect their Arab identity. 

Ensour added that the Kingdom will exert relentless efforts to help restore the land to its legitimate owners.

Delivering a speech for the celebration in Azmi Mufti Camp in Irbid, some 80km north of Amman, the premier said having Palestinian refugees celebrate Jordan's Independence Day is proof of their inseparability from the national tapestry of Jordan and their gratitude for Jordan's support. 

Until their ambitions for liberty and independence are realised, Ensour said that the Palestinians are required to safeguard their national unity.
