AMMAN — HRH Princess Dana Firas, president of the Petra National Trust (PNT) and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, on Sunday attended the launch of the "Heritage for Yemen's Generations" project.
The ceremony witnessed the participation of Yemeni Minister of Education Tariq Akbari, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The project, one of its kind at the regional level, is funded by the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH), in cooperation with the Yemeni Ministry of Education, and comes as part of the trust’s regional efforts to protect cultural heritage and spread awareness about it.
The PNT is developing an extracurricular educational programme for children of the age group (7-12) in Yemen, where an intensive training programme will be held for Yemeni teachers and educational supervisors in Jordan to enable them to implement the programme in Yemen.
The programme aims to instill awareness among the participants of the importance of cultural heritage, and enhance their sense of ownership and preservation of their heritage sites through interactive learning methods.
