World Cup official song announced

AMMAN — The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Sunday announced the launch of the tournament’s official song, “Jordan our playground”.

The song brings together Lebanese singer Carole Samaha and Jordanian vocalist Hussein Salman, and was written by Omar Sari.

“The song’s rousing lyrics convey Jordan’s passion for football to the world,” the LOC said in a statement, adding that it would create an “electric and inspiring atmosphere” at the tournament.

“I’m confident that millions of football fans have been eagerly awaiting the launch of this song, which is bound to add a wonderful rhythm to the games in Jordan,” said LOC CEO Samar Nassar.

Samaha said she was looking forward to performing the song with Salman at the opening ceremony on Friday “and to delivering a song that will hopefully live up to the expectations of both audiences and football fans across Jordan and the Arab world”.
