AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon discussed over the phone on Friday the latest developments in the Middle East, especially regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and its criminal organisations.
The UN official extended his and the international community's condolences to His Majesty and the Jordanian people over the loss of life in the terrorist attack that targeted a military post dedicated for serving Syrian refugees on the northeastern border, according to a Royal Court statement.
In this regard, Ban voiced the UN's support for the Kingdom under all circumstances and vowed to help the country address challenges ensuing from regional crises.
He also commended Jordan's efforts in dealing with the repercussions of the Syrian crisis and maintaining the region's security and stability.
King Abdullah urged the international community to bear its responsibility in dealing with the refugee crisis, which, he said, is a world problem, the statement added.
Jordan will not allow any circumstance to threaten the security of its borders and stability, His Majesty stressed, highlighting the Kingdom has repeatedly called on the international community to intensify its efforts in dealing with the Syrian crisis, mainly refugees.
