AMMAN — The accumulative number of COVID-19 cases among students, academic and administrative staff in universities and colleges has reached 4,126 since the beginning of the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic year, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Wednesday.

Ministry Spokesperson Mohannad Al Khatib said that infections among the 377,000 academic and administrative staff members and students have reached only one per cent and no deaths have been recorded.

The accumulative number of recoveries stands at 1,700, some 41 per cent of the caseload, while active cases total 2,422, at 59 per cent, he said, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

He added that about 92 per cent of university and college students and staffs are vaccinated, noting that unvaccinated individuals will not be allowed to enter campuses, in accordance with Defence Order No. 35, which will be effective as of 2022.

Khatib also stressed the continuity of in-class education, with all exams to be held on campus.
