Trade ministry begins crackdown on price gouging

AMMAN — The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply issued a total of 177 fines over the past week across the Kingdom for violating price regulations.
In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the ministry on Saturday said that 103 fines were issued for not announcing prices and 74 for lack of commitment to price ceilings of poultry, sugar and vegetable oil.
The ministry stressed that inspections are ongoing to check on commitment to price ceilings.
