AMMAN — Thousands of Jordanians from across the Kingdom on Friday gathered at Al Hussein Park in the capital to participate in the celebration of the Great Arab Revolt and the Arab awakening, 100 years after its launch by Sharif Hussein Bin Ali in June 1916.
The public security and anti-narcotics departments organised exhibitions that attracted many citizens, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Public Security Department (PSD) exhibition showcased advanced equipment used to ensure security. It also featured a pavilion for the Royal Badia Forces, displaying many of the tools the unit used in the Great Arab Revolt.
The Anti-Narcotics Department fair included many activities that aimed at acquainting people with the agency's duties in combating drugs and highlighting the importance of public cooperation to curb the phenomenon.
Royal Jordanian aircraft and Royal Falcons planes also performed an air show in Amman's skies, Petra added.
Citizens at the park attended music, art and military band performances, and participated in various games.
Attendees also had an opportunity to meet with PSD, army and Civil Defence Department personnel.
Some 100,000 citizens attended a fireworks show held as part of the celebration.
