AMMAN — The Public Prosecutor decided to detain a person who ran over a traffic officer for a period of 7 days at a correctional and rehabilitation centre pending further investigation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
A security source said that a traffic officer was injured in a hit-and-run incident while working in Jabal Amman. The officer was evacuated to a hospital and a circular had been issued for the vehicle.
After the driver was identified, he turned himself in and the public prosecutor decided to detain him for a week at a correctional and rehabilitation centre on charges of assaulting a member of public security and violating the traffic law by recklessly driving a vehicle and fleeing the scene of a crash.
