Solar energy units to be installed at public schools

AMMAN — The Education Ministry and the Princess Alia Foundation on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding to implement a programme of sustainable education through renewable energy.
The programme will entail the installation and operation of solar energy units at the ministry’s schools to reduce power bills by JD9 to JD10 million annually.
Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat and HRH Princess Alia signed the agreement.
Thneibat said the foundation will provide necessary equipment to 11 schools in Southern Ghor District and two schools in Northern Shuneh within the next two weeks.
