Senate endorses 2022 children’s rights draft law

AMMAN — The Senate on Tuesday endorsed the 2022 children's rights draft law. The bill's items address the care and rights of children, and include familial, cultural and social issues by establishing detection and monitoring mechanisms and establishing avenues to allow children to assert their rights and freedoms, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The law also covers children’s education and health, in addition to creating safeguards to ensure that children are protected. The bill also stipulates penalties for violations of these rights.
Head of the Senate Legal Committee, Senator Ahmad Tubieshat, said that all items of the draft law align with Sharia (Islamic law) and traditions, and serve the interests of children and society.
