AMMAN — In implementation of Royal directives to evacuate Jordanians and assist other countries in evacuating their citizens from Sudan, the Foreign Ministry on Sunday announced the arrival of the Royal Jordanian Air Force’s (RJAF) eighth evacuation plane at Marka Military Airport.

The plane, which was dispatched to Port Sudan International Airport, carried 85 individuals, including 46 Jordanians and 39 citizens from Syria, Lebanon, the United States, Canada, Norway and Eritrea, as well as employees of international organisations, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The RJAF operated eight aircraft to evacuate Jordanians and other nationals. These planes, in total, carried 661 people, including 469 Jordanians and 192 individuals from 26 nationalities. A total of 30 Jordanians were evacuated on German planes that used the Kingdom as a base for their flights to Sudan.

The eighth plane carried eight tonnes of humanitarian and medical aid from the International Red Cross to Sudan. These supplies will aid in emergency operations, which are being carried out for the first time since the crisis began.
