PSD announces series of drug raids across the Kingdom

AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) media spokesperson on Thursday said that Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel carried out campaigns and raids across the Kingdom, during which several suspected drug dealers were arrested and large quantities of narcotics were seized.

In Karak, nine suspected drug dealers were arrested in possession of various narcotics, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The spokesperson said that one of the "most dangerous" drug dealers in the country was also arrested during a raid in Ramtha, after police identified the date the dealer was set to deliver a "large" quantity of drugs. The suspect was arrested and found in possession of two kilogrammes of crystal meth.

Also in Ramtha, another suspected drug dealer was arrested in possession of seven palm-sized sheets of hashish.

In Zarqa, AND teams arrested two suspects in a sting operation. The suspects had transported "large" quantities of drugs from Mafraq to Zarqa. The two were pulled over in their vehicle and were subsequently arrested and found in possession of 21 palm-sized sheets of hashish and 10,000 unspecified narcotic pills.

In Amman, two suspected drug traffickers were arrested for distributing narcotics within the capital's eastern regions. The two were found in possession of 8 palm-sized sheets of hashish, 1,000 narcotic pills and 100 grammes of crystal meth.
