AMMAN — HH Prince Mired Bin Raad, Lord Chamberlain and president of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities discussed on Sunday enhancing cooperation between the Council and the Supreme Judge's Office with Chief Islamic Justice Abdul Hafez Rabtah.
During their meeting, they discussed facilitating access for persons with disabilities to Sharia courts by preparing these judicial facilities, building upon initiatives already undertaken by the Supreme Judge's Department.
The discussion also covered alternative housing options and ways to streamline transitions for beneficiaries from institutional care to their biological families, relatives, or foster families.
Prince Mired emphasised the crucial role of Sharia courts in protecting and promoting the rights of persons with disabilities.
He also praised the swift response from the department to coordinate with the council regarding the preparation of Sharia courts.
Rabtah affirmed the Supreme Judge's Office's readiness to provide all available resources to facilitate the access of persons with disabilities to Sharia judicial facilities.
The council and the department previously signed a memorandum of understanding, under which the Council collaborates with the department to prepare three foundational Sharia courts in the Kingdom's regions (North, South and Central).
The partnership also includes exchanging expertise and training for staff to ensure effective communication with persons with disabilities who interact with Sharia courts and their various departments.
