PM meets Iraq parliament speaker

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh on Tuesday received Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al Halboosi and an accompanying delegation.
The premier stressed the "historical and strategic ties" between Jordan and Iraq, adding that Jordan is committed to enhancing cooperation under the trilateral agreement with Iraq and Egypt and expressed the Kingdom's willingness to “promptly” carry out joint projects, including the border economic estate and the Basrah-Aqaba oil pipeline.
Khasawneh reiterated Jordan's solidarity with Iraq to bolster stability, defeat extremists and terrorists and support Iraqi government institutions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The premier, during the meeting that was attended by several officials, said that the conditions of Iraq, whether good or bad, reflect on the entire region, expressing aspiration for Iraq to resume its pivotal and leading role in the Arab and international arena.
Halboosi reaffirmed the Iraqi parliament's commitment to advancing and bolstering relations with Jordan, pledging to support agreements signed under the Jordan-Iraq-Egypt cooperation mechanism that will "positively" reflect on the three countries.
He also lauded Jordan's efforts to rally regional and international support to Iraq and its institutions.
