AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Thursday met Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al Mutairi.

Mutairi is visiting the Kingdom to head his country’s delegation in the 21st Amman International Book Fair, which kicked off on Thursday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Emphasising the “distinguished” Jordanian-Kuwaiti relations, Khasawneh noted that both countries “see eye-to-eye” on various regional and Arab issues, foremost of which is the two nations’ position towards the centrality of the Palestinian cause and supporting the Palestinians’ legitimate rights to statehood on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the two-state solution.

The premier also commended the existing development cooperation between both countries, noting that Kuwait is the largest Arab investor in Jordan, welcoming further Kuwaiti ventures in the Kingdom’s vital sectors.

Mutairi expressed pride that his country was nominated as a guest of honour at the book fair that witnessed the participation of hundreds of publishing houses from 20 countries.

He also drew attention to the pivotal role of both countries’ media in showing the mutual “brotherly” relations, and expressed appreciation for the contributions of the Jordanian community in Kuwait, notably in pushing forward the Gulf country’s development efforts.

Mutairi further stated that he values the support available to Kuwaiti students who are studying in Jordan.
