PM attends Jordanian Industry Day event

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Monday attended an event marking the Jordanian Industry Day, which was organised by the Amman Chamber of Industry to showcase the achievements of the sector in supporting the national economy.
Khasawneh noted that the industrial sector is the largest employer, employing around 20 per cent of the workforce in the Kingdom. The sector constitutes 25 per cent of the national economy and 95 per cent of national exports, and attracts about 70 per cent of foreign investments in the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The prime minister also said that work is underway to provide industrial estates with natural gas to reduce production costs.
The premier also honoured the top exporting industrial companies in 2022.
President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry Fathi Jaghbir announced the allocation of a plot of land spanning 33 dunums for hosting exhibitions. The area can accommodate approximately 500 pavilions and construction is expected to commence soon.
