AMMAN — Pleasant summer weather is forecast to prevail during the first week of September, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on Thursday.
A weak depression over the Mediterranean Sea is causing moderate and humid weather in the Kingdom, JMD weather forecaster Saleh Shayyab said.
“The humid and moderate weather is expected to continue for a week, during which the temperature will be around the annual average of 31.7ºC for this time of year,” Shayyab told The Jordan Times.
Pleasant weather is forecast on Friday in mountainous areas, while it will be relatively hot in the rest of the country, with high-altitude clouds.
Daytime temperatures in the capital will be 31ºC, dropping to 18ºC at night and winds will be northwesterly moderate.
A slight drop in temperatures is forecast for Saturday, when the weather will remain pleasant in the mountains and relatively hot in the Jordan Valley and Aqaba, Shayyab said.
Temperatures will be 30ºC during the day and 18ºC at night Amman, with northwesterly moderate winds.
Another drop in temperatures is expected on Sunday, when summer weather will prevail in the mountains, while it will be relatively hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, Shayyab noted.
In Amman, daytime temperatures will be 29ºC, dropping to a low of 19ºC, while winds will be northwesterly moderate.
Shayyab noted that despite the slight dip in temperatures below their annual average, hot days are also forecast during September.
Weather will change throughout the month, as autumn approaches, the forecaster said.
