AMMAN — The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Commissioner for Sustainable Development Fatima Hilalat announced on Wednesday that the first diagnostic phase for issuing identification cards for people with disabilities in the Petra region has been completed.
The number of cases of peripheral artery disabilities reached 227 across the six district communities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
She confirmed that the registration would provide the authority with a database containing the names of people with disabilities and the types of disabilities they have, which will help support them appropriately and provide the necessary programs.
The identification cards will also save the region’s residents the time and effort of travelling to other governorates to register the identification card for themselves or their relatives, Hilalat added.
The PDTRA started implementing a joint programme with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities this week to issue identification cards for people with disabilities in the district.
The process will continue in the coming weeks to diagnose other categories.
