New Royal initiative projects inaugurated in Maan

AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Thursday attended the launch of a series of Royal initiative projects in Maan.

These projects are aligned with His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives issued following his interactive dialogues with the governorate's local residents and dignitaries.

During his tour, Issawi inspected multiple ongoing projects aligned with Royal initiatives. 

In Al Jafer district, Issawi inaugurated Al Jafer Park, a joint endeavour with the Zaha Cultural Centre. The park, spanning an area of five dunums, will provide recreational areas for local residents.

Issawi also checked on a fish farming project in Al Jafer region. This project, the first of its kind, falls within the Production Branches Initiative, which was launched in 2008 to establish production hubs within villages and governorates.

The Royal Court chief also took a first-hand look at the project's phases, including preparatory measures for creating water basins optimised for the production of high-quality fish. 

This transformational project was held in cooperation with the Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission, an arm of the Ministry of Labour, and Takatuf for Agricultural and Industrial Investments, which is affiliated with the Royal Jordanian Air Force, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Issawi also conducted an on-site evaluation of the restoration and renovation initiative at the historic palace of the late His Majesty King Abdullah I, who used the site as defence centre when he was in Maan.

With a focus on highlighting the historical genesis of the Jordanian state, the venture is working to transform the palace into a national museum.

Spanning over 27 dunums, the project entails historical buildings that once formed part of the Hejaz Railway Station in Maan. 

This site will ultimately encompass three distinct museums in addition to new buildings and external spaces. 

In Petra, Issawi attended the launch of the second phase of the electric vehicle movement, which increased the number of cars distributed to the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority from 20 to 40. 

Beyond the environmental merits of the initiative, the deployment of electric vehicles as an alternative to traditional horse-drawn carriages in Petra elevates the standard of tourism services, aligns the site with the ecological ethos of the region and offers visitors an immersive and environmentally conscious experience.

Issawi also attended the inauguration of the "Warina Cultural Village" in Petra, as part of his tour. The village project is intended to revive folkloric and historical heritage.
