AMMAN — The Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs on Sunday organised a campaign in Al Hussein Sports City for Youth to promote political participation and to introduce the accomplishments of the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The campaign, titled “Participation is Everyone's Responsibility”, aims to enhance public political participation, especially among women and youth, by holding meetings and workshops in various regions of the Kingdom.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Krishan said that the campaign exemplifies the government's commitment to implementing the recommendations of the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System, in cooperation with stakeholders.
He explained that the campaign will commence this week in all governorates.
The minister referred to the “historic” opportunity to develop the democratic life in Jordan as per the newly endorsed laws by Parliament, including the laws regarding elections and political parties, including legal guarantees that protect youth joining political life.
Kreishan also highlighted the importance of raising awareness side by side with the development of laws, noting that the ministry will seek to build and enhance confidence in political action and instill the concepts of civil and democratic education among citizens of various ages in cooperation with concerned ministries.
The campaign’s opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Youth Mohammad Nabulsi as well as a number of ministerial representatives.
