Nabulsi reviews WB-Japan supported youth training project

AMMAN — Minister of Youth Mohammad Al Nabulsi on Tuesday reviewed the results of the World Bank’s "Social services for the most affected youth" project, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The minister also checked on progress of the youth tourism training project, implemented by the Ministry of Youth with funding from the World Bank (WB) through the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF).
During a meeting with WB Jordan Resident Representative Holly Benner and representatives of JSDF, as well as the WB mission and the project’s administration, Nabulsi praised the partnership with WB and JSDF.
He stressed the ministry's keenness to empower young people with the skills necessary to enter the labour market, in implementation of the youth and economic empowerment pillar of the National Youth Strategy.
The minister also called for enhancing partnerships with the public and private sectors to implement programmes that empower young people.
For her part, Benner reaffirmed the WB's commitment to promoting economic opportunities for young people through skills development programmes that qualify young people to work in the labour market’s most promising sectors, such as the tourism industry.
Benner reviewed the project’s progress, which aims to train young people in hotel and tourism services. She also reviewed the mission's field visits to the project workplaces, skills and knowledge acquired during training and the youth’s ability to create and sustain medium and small enterprises.
The mission's delegation conducted field visits at the project's Jerash and Ajloun stations, during which they reviewed progress of programmes focused on tourism training, python programming, solar panel design and e-marketing.
