MP holds discussion on reported US plan to undermine UNRWA

AMMAN — MP Yahya Saud, head of the Lower House Palestine Committee, on Tuesday said that the United States is seeking to eliminate the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

"We in Jordan appreciate the role played by His Majesty King Abdullah in various forums and international and regional meetings towards the Palestinian issue as well as the necessity for the Palestinian people to obtain their legal rights," Saud added.

These remarks came during a meeting of the committee on Tuesday to discuss the financial deficit facing UNRWA, in the presence of the Acting Director General of the Palestinian Affairs Department Nidal Haddad, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
