Media literacy ‘top priority’ for Gov’t Communication Ministry

AMMAN — Introducing media literacy into curricula falls within the administrative modernisation strategy, Secretary General of the Ministry of Government Communication Zaid Al Nawaiseh. Presiding over the second session of the Arab Media Forum, under the theme "Media and Information Literacy: A review of Jordanian efforts in the field of media literacy", Nawaiseh said that media literacy is a top priority for the ministry, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Suleiman Al Eidi, Adviser at the Prince Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS), highlighted the role of media outlets in educating the community about the importance of media education. A representative from the Palestinian Ministry of Information, Abdul Baset Khalf, briefed the gathering on his country's experience and on the Palestinian Women Journalists Initiative. Participants from Morocco and Mauritania also shared their countries’ experiences in developing and introducing media literacy concepts.
