AMMAN — Deputising for Prime Minister Hani Mulki, Transport Minister Hussein Al Souob on Saturday inaugurated the Maritime Day in Aqaba, organised by the Jordan Maritime Commission, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Souob said the day is held in memory of His Majesty the late King Hussein, who inaugurated the Aqaba Ports Corporation on February 11, 1965. Between 70 and 80 per cent of Jordanian imports and exports pass through Aqaba ports, said the minister, adding that 100 ships are registered at the corporation.
