AMMAN — The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) has issued a licence to generate electricity through wind energy with a capacity of 51.75MW in the Grindel area in Tafileh Governorate, raising the number of wind stations in the Kingdom to four stations generating about 337MW.
Chief Commissioner of the EMRC Farouq Hiyari said in a press statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Tuesday that the 20-year licence belongs to Daehan Wind Power Company to generate electricity from renewable energy, which was selected to develop the project under the direct bidding system through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), expecting the station to be operational in 2020.
He pointed out that the terms of the licence entitle the company to work in the field of generating electricity from wind power and selling the generated electricity to NEPCO under the energy purchase agreement signed between the two sides.
