AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Local Administration Minister Tawfiq Krishan on Tuesday visited the municipalities of Madaba, Theiban, Lub, Mulaih and Jabal Bani Hamidah.
During the tour, Krishan said that the main challenge facing the Kingdom’s municipalities is the irregular construction of buildings on lands in the unincorporated areas, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Debts owed to the municipalities are estimated at JD300 million, while the deficit is some JD70 million, he added.
The minister highlighted the necessity of easing the collection of citizens’ dues, notably through facilitating installment payments. During his visit to the Madaba Industrial Estate, the minister was briefed on the challenges facing investors, mainly related to water and power.
