Jordan's exports of jewellery, pharmaceuticals increase in 2023, while clothes, fertilizers decrease

AMMAN — Jewellery and pharmaceutical products dominated Jordan's exports in 2023, while clothing, potash and fertilisers exports showed a decline.
According to foreign trade data issued on Monday by the Department of Statistics, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, jewellery exports rose by 74.4 per cent, pharmaceutical substances by 19.6 per cent and other materials by 11.1 per cent.
The value of national jewellery and gem exports reached approximately JD825 million in 2023 a substantial increase from JD473 million in 2022.
The data showed that the value of exported pharmaceutical products reached approximately JD532 million, compared with JD445 million in 2022.
National clothing exports dropped by 12.1 per cent, while fertilisers were down by 10.5 per cent, potash by 38.3 per cent and phosphates by 20.7 per cent.
National exports of other materials amounted to JD3.318 billion in the previous year, compared with JD2.987 billion in 2022.
Overall, the figures revealed that national exports dropped by 1.1 per cent in 2023.
