AMMAN — UNESCO, in partnership with the Swedish Fojo Media Institute, is organising a study tour on media self-regulation for major representatives of Jordanian media, government and civil society, according to a statement released on Sunday by UNESCO Amman Office.
The initiative comes under the scope of UNESCO’s “Support to Media in Jordan” Project, funded by the EU and endorsed by the Ministry of State for Media Affairs.
The delegation is touring Sweden, Denmark and the UK in the period between December 4 and 14 to meet and network with self-regulatory bodies, leading media organisations, broadcasters, government officials and media experts.
The move aims to strengthen Jordanian stakeholders’ awareness of the importance of self-regulatory systems through exposure to long-running models in the field. The study tour will be rounded up by a summit to be held in Jordan in February 2017, the statement added.
