AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday retrieved 67 Jordanian pieces of antiquities from Canada, acquired in a foiled smuggling attempt by Canadian authorities at the Toronto international airport, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Jordan’s Ambassador to Canada Reem Alaa Al Din was authorised by the Cabinet to receive the antiquities.

In the statement, Reem reaffirmed the strength of the Jordanian-Canadian ties, voicing her appreciation of Canada Border Services Agency’s efforts to return the pieces of Jordan’s historical heritage to their rightful owners.

The antiquities included oil lamps, pottery, glass jars and statues dating back to various eras of Jordan’s history.
