AMMAN — Jordan on Sunday participated in the 111th session of supervisors of Palestinian affairs in the Conference of Arab Host Countries, which was held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.

The Department of Palestinian Affairs said that the conference was attended by Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, the Arab Organisation for Education, Culture, and Science, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, and UNRWA, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Director-General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs (DPA) Rafiq Khirfan affirmed Jordan’s continued “full” support for the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent, sovereign state on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the two-state solution.

Kherfan pointed to His Majesty King Abdullah's emphasis, during his speech at the 33rd Arab Summit, on adhering to the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and supporting Gaza in these difficult circumstances.

He referred to His Majesty's call on the international community to assume its responsibility to stop the war on Gaza, stressing the Kingdom's commitment to protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, which are under Hashemite guardianship.

Kherfan welcomed the recognition of the Palestinian state by Norway, Ireland, Spain, and Slovenia and the positive impact of such decisions on the two-state solution.

He stressed the importance of UNRWA's role in providing services in its areas of operations, which is "indispensable", especially in Gaza, expressing Israel's refusal to evacuate UNRWA buildings in occupied Jerusalem.
