AMMAN — Director-General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs (DPA) Rafiq Khirfan on Sunday participated in the 108th session of the Supervisors on Palestinian Affairs in the Host Arab Countries Conference at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Khirfan referred to Jordan’s firm and clear position, based on the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, which prioritises the Palestinian cause.
He also pointed to the King’s participation in the Jeddah Summit, during which he stressed the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution.
Khirfan affirmed the government's continued support for Palestinians in Jerusalem to confront any Israeli attempt to change the historical and legal status quo in the Holy City, under the historical Hashemite Custodianship.
He added that the Jordanian government continues to improve the livelihoods and services provided to Palestinian refugees residing in the 13 refugee camps in the Kingdom.
Regarding the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Khirfan reaffirmed Jordan’s support towards the agency, as reflected in the Kingdom’s endeavour, in all international forums, to mobilise international funding to UNRWA.
