AMMAN — The Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) on Saturday dispatched an aid convoy, in cooperation with the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army, to the Gaza Strip, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

JHCO Secretary General Ayman Al Mefleh said that the convoy, which is sponsored by the Islamic Charitable Emdad Committee-South Africa (ICEC-SA), consists of five trucks carrying 100 tonnes of rice. The donations will be handed over to the military field hospital in Gaza, which will distribute the aid to the beneficiaries. He said that two more convoys, each carrying 100 tonnes of rice, will be dispatched to Gaza in the coming period to meet the needs of Gazans.

Mefleh praised ICEC-SA for their “generous” donation, stressing the continued cooperation between the two parties. For his part, General Manager of ICEC-SA Zakaria Al Sheikh said that the humanitarian aid comes as a result of coordination between JHCO and ICEC-SA to supply Gaza with basic food needs, including rice, according to Petra.
