Jordan, Egypt and Iraq on path to strengthen trilateral ties in tech field

AMMAN — Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh on Sunday night in Cairo met with his Egyptian counterpart Amr Talaat and Iraqi counterpart Arkan Al Shaibani over means to enhance trilateral ties in the ICT field.

The goal of the meeting was to look at the progress made towards realising the outcomes of the trilateral leaders' summit held over the year and to boost partnership and joint strategic integration, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship said discussions held during the meeting also addressed the possibility of establishing an interconnection system between Jordan, Iraq and Egypt, in addition to establishing joint artificial intelligence projects.

The ministers highlighted the importance of the trilateral ICT coordination to serve the interests of the three countries, in light of the technological developments and the Fourth Industrial Revolution that is currently changing the world, the ministry added.

Hanandeh also stressed the need to create "real partnerships", programmes and projects between the three countries to support their economies, especially since digital transformation is the key to building new global concepts and positive cultural changes.

He stressed the need to empower and support youth as a part of the efforts to enhance partnerships among the three countries.
