Jordan and CIHEAM Bari sign headquarters agreement to boost agricultural cooperation

AMMAN — Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Majed Qatarneh and Director of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM Bari) Maurizio Raeli signed a headquarters agreement between Jordan and CIHEAM Bari.

The agreement aims to establish CIHEAM offices in Jordan to enhance partnerships, develop cooperation programmes, and exchange expertise with the Centre, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The agreement focuses on identifying and strengthening innovative policies in the field of natural resources (land and water), food security, nutrition, rural development, supporting rural communities, and empowering women and youth.

Minister of Agriculture Khalid Hneifat also discussed on Monday, with a delegation from the Centre headed by Maurizio Reali, cooperation and support for development plans of the Jordanian agricultural sector.

The Centre is going to support the ministry's plans for climate change, agricultural guidance, food security, food processing, and marketing.
