AMMAN — Interior Minister Salameh Hammad on Sunday said that an electronic programme developed by the ministry that enables governors to track all projects within their jurisdiction will be launched soon.
The announcement came during Hammad’s meeting with governors to review the technical and administrative matters related to the programme.
The programme will be implemented with support from the EU by the Local Development Department at the ministry within its project to support decentralisation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Hammad stressed the role of governors, as heads of the executive authorities in their areas of jurisdiction and directly responsible for the security and development in the governorates, to monitor development projects to achieve decentralisation.
The minister noted that the ministry also developed a programme that includes 400 indicators to study all sectors within the governorate for the local development directorate to address service and development shortcomings.
He noted that service development programmes are funded through the governorates’ budget, central budgets, Royal initiatives, and external grants.
After the budget approval, the projects will be referred to the follow-up management system at the Ministry of Interior through the executive directorates in the governorate.
Additionally, the stages of the project, completion rates and expenditures are entered into this system, which allows the governors to follow the progress of the projects, and keeps the public informed about the projects in a transparent manner.
