House speaker, Iraqi official talk strengthening parliamentary ties

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi on Tuesday emphasised the need to enhance parliamentary ties between Jordan and Iraq in order to advance both countries' shared interests and address issues facing the Arab world.
During a meeting with First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi House of Representatives, Hassan Al Mandalawi, Safadi underscored the need to move forward with projects involving Jordan, Iraq and Egypt as part of a tripartite cooperation agreement, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Safadi stressed Jordan's commitment to the stability and unity of Iraq, noting that the Kingdom will continue to assist the country in its efforts to retrieve its position in the region.
In response, Mandalawi expressed his appreciation for Jordan's support of Iraq in hard times and throughout its war on terrorism, highlighting the need to improve ties to serve the interests of both peoples.
