AMMAN — The Kingdom will remain on Sunday under the impact of a hot air mass that pushed temperatures seven degrees above their annual average for this time of the year, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on Saturday.
Hot weather will prevail across the country, but it will be very hot in the Dead Sea, Aqaba and Jordan Valley, according to a JMD forecaster.
Temperatures reached 37ºC on Saturday, the meteorologist said, noting that daytime temperatures on Sunday will be 36ºC, dropping to 20ºC at night in the capital.
"As of Sunday night, the hot air mass, which started affecting the country on Friday, will gradually wear off," the meteorologist said.
Noting that the average temperature during this time of the year is 30ºC, the forecaster said winds on Sunday will be southwesterly moderate, turning in the afternoon to westerly moderate and raising dust across the country, particularly in the southern and eastern regions.
On Monday, temperatures will fall back to their annual average during this time of the year as the impact of the hot air mass tapers off, the forecaster added.
Moderate weather will prevail in the mountains, whereas it will be relatively hot across the Kingdom and hot in the Dead Sea, Aqaba and the Jordan Valley, according to the JMD.
Temperatures will be 31ºC during the day and 18ºC at night in Amman, while winds will be westerly to northwesterly moderate, turning to brisk and raising dust in the afternoon.
Another slight drop in temperatures is expected on Tuesday, when the weather will be moderate across the country and relatively hot in the Dead Sea, Aqaba and the Jordan Valley.
Maximum temperatures will be 30ºC, dropping to a minimum of 17ºC in Amman, and winds will be westerly to northwesterly brisk, raising dust.
