AMMAN — Over 96 per cent of students and staff in the Kingdom’s public and private universities and colleges have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Over the phone, the ministry’s spokesperson Muhannad Al Khatib told The Jordan Times that “the ministry has the students’ best interests in mind. Students who were not allowed to enter campus due to not being fully vaccinated can set a new date to take a makeup examination after receiving the second dose.”
Khatib added that the cumulative number of positive COVID-19 cases among students and staff in public and private universities and colleges has reached 8,180 cases since the beginning of the first semester of the academic year 2021-2022, representing 2.2 per cent of the total number of university and college students and administrative and college staff.
“Until now, no deaths have been recorded among administrative and teaching staff or students in Jordan’s public and private universities and colleges,” Khatib said.
The number of recovered cases among students and staff in public and private universities and colleges reached 7001, representing 86 per cent of the total number of cases, he said.
